Lugging Your Luggage

Lugging your luggage
All of us love to travel, but unfortunately for most of us, when we travel outstation, abroad, or even just across town, we love bringing along all the comforts of home. Gone are the nomadic days of the past when people would just bring along a backpack or a duffel pack with just the bare essentials for a getaway; people nowadays will even bring along the kitchen sink to a vacation trip if you let them. This makes for a more comfortable vacation of course, where you can still enjoy the little comforts from home, but it also means that people nowadays do not travel as light as they used to, and luggage has also been updated accordingly throughout the years to accommodate the needs and requirements of the travelling consumers.
Firstly, invest in the proper type of luggage or suitcase you require. If you really are the type to travel light, there’s always the trusty and laid back looking duffel bag, in different shapes and sizes, as well as differing numbers of compartments, all to suit your needs. There is also the standard luggage case, which stands tall and solid, with a massive amount of storage space available, and is able to keep all your belongings safe and comfortable beneath its tough and sturdy exterior. Lastly, there is the newfangled luggage on wheels, a suitcase put on wheels with an external support and frame which enables it to be pushed around. This is fast gaining in popularity especially among female travellers, but the extra hardware on the outside do make it a pain to lug around and squeeze into smaller vehicles.
When carrying luggage and moving it from one place to another, remember to always stand alongside it and bend from the knees to lift it. Try to avoid bending at the waist as that is how most injuries occur. Grasp the handle of the bag or suitcase, and then straighten up your body. Once you lift the luggage, hold it close to your body, and do not twist when lifting and carrying luggage. Point your toes in the direction you are headed and turn your entire body in that direction. Remember to avoid rushing when lifting or carrying bags or suitcases and always get help if it is too cumbersome to handle by yourself. Do not carry bulky luggage for long periods of time whenever possible.
So be sure to get the correct and most suitable piece of luggage for yourself, which hopefully will not cost you a bomb, and make sure you always handle it in the proper manner to avoid hurting yourself by carrying too heavy a load. It would definitely be a bummer if you ended up spraining something and spending your vacation resting in the hotel or worse yet, the hospital.
